WEB & UI/UX
Automotive parts is a rather dull and rigid industry, more often than not suffering from a lack of appeal needed to make establish that emotional connection with the customers. With that in mind, I set out to create a design that captivated and charmed viewers immediately. Using a mix of light helped keep things interesting, a concept directly contrasting the common perception of the industry.
PARALLAX PRODUCT PAGES
Parallax webpage design is becoming increasingly popular, and rightly so due to its innate ability to showcase a service, product or a concept from every possible angle, without having the need to interrupt the viewing experience. The dark background is used to convey the “premium” feel of the brand via bright colors focusing attention on key product features. The said approach aims at positioning Ecobrex as the outlier, in other words, the company who tries to do things differently.
The X in the logo was the main inspiration for me when revamping the product packaging. The client hoped to achieve brand awareness with the use of X, and required to be bold and visible on the packages. The X served as a divider between the texts and images due to its centralized position on the packages, subconsciously associating the letter X with the brand Ecobrex. I also used the X as a way of illustrating the internal parts, or rather the engine of the car, which helped finalize the sleek look.
Ecobrex has an impressive product range which required me to create more than 250 pages, including product, category and other pages. Unlike the parallax pages, these were created on a light background as the client required that things be kept as simple as possible. The designs utilized here do not strain the eyes of the visitors, which is a key factor since most of the website’s pertinent information can be found on these pages.
I was asked to come up with an out-of- the-box design for the new product line, aptly dubbed “Ecobrex Black Line”, and created the elegant, but equally bold pages seen below. The name of the product line encouraged the use of the color black, which added depth. Limited use of white space helped avoid a cluttered layout while accentuating the important elements.
